Ruthanne Reid, of Paisley, said her family have been left upset by the level of interest surrounding the story and dismissed it as “a load of rubbish.” The 57-year-old was filmed at last year’s Scottish Hair and Beauty Awards in Glasgow nutting another woman and smacking guests with her zebra-print bag.

Now she is claiming almost £4,000 in damages from the event organisers — but says she wants to put the whole episode behind her.

She told The Gazette: “It’s a complete load of rubbish and has been reported inaccurately by some of the national newspapers.

“The whole thing was sensationalised and the papers have just regurgitated what the others have said.

“I spoke out about it before but I don’t want to prolong the story as it has been upsetting my family.

“I just want to bury the incident and don’t wish to share anything else.” Since apologising after the ordeal in June this year, Ms Reid is now trying to sue events firm Precise — blaming the bust-up on a faulty mic supply.

However Andy Griffiths, chief of the events organisation, said he was “absolutely dumbfounded” at the allegations and has vowed to fight against them.

He said: “It’s just ridiculous to blame us for her getting drunk and starting a fight.

“After apologising profusely to us for her behaviour, then five months later tries to sue us? It’s beyond nonsense.

“The letter come through last Thursday from the lawyers and said we would have to pay £3,496 within seven days.

“Ruthanne is trying to say the event became a disaster because our speakers weren’t loud enough and there were problems with the microphone.

“However we have video evidence of the event and we will defend this vigorously.” Ruthanna, who lives in Paisley’s Main Road, contacted lawyers Yuill and Kyle in a bid to help her win the case.

The awards, which attracted celebrity guests Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright, took months for former INAA boss Mrs Reid and her daughter Joanne to organise.

Held in June with hundreds of guests, most of whom paid £105 a ticket to attend, the event was launched to honour those in the hair and beauty industry.

But it descended into chaos with accusations of assault, swearing and a female guest flashing her bottom to the crowd.

Businesswoman Reid, who appears to still be working at salon booking service INAA.com, was seen on viral video footage drunkenly headbutting family friend Lisa Guit, 35.
