The supermarket, on Bridge Street in Linwood town centre, recently presented Linwood in Bloom volunteers with a giant cheque one of its sites close to Clippens roundabout in the town.

Representatives from the store went along to meet volunteers to hear more about the project and how the money will help.

Jeanette Anderson, chairwoman of the trust and community champion, explained: “Linwood in Bloom aims to make our town a more attractive place by developing community flowerbeds and providing troughs and planters. The project also helps increase civic pride as local people are taking on the planning and management of their environment, it helps to regenerate disadvantaged areas and we are working with many local voluntary and community groups to support the project.

“We are delighted with the support and donation from Tesco Linwood, this will help us to continue to run this project in the town.” Store manager Colin Caldow and his team are keen to part a key part in supporting the Linwood community and this donation is one of the ways the store have been able help. He said: “It is great to hear about the work the LCDT are doing to run the Linwood in Bloom project. The scheme not only helps with the appearance of the town but it provides great opportunities for the community to come together and for local people to express their pride for Linwood.”
