At around 1.40am this morning police responded to reports of fire at Mossvale Nursery School in Fullarton Street.
Emergency services attended and the fire was extinguished around 5am.
Despite there being substantial smoke and fire damage, no-one was injured. Initial enquiries are being carried out to establish if the fire is suspicious.
Detectives have been carrying out door-to-door enquiries and those enquiries are continuing today.
Officers are in the process of reviewing available CCTV images in an effort to obtain further information.
Detective Sergeant Gordon McCrae of Paisley Criminal Investigation Department said: “Fortunately, no-one was injured in this incident but it’s imperative we learn the circumstances of the fire.
"If you were in the area of Fullerton Street this morning, close to Mossvale Nursery and noticed anyone behaving in an odd or suspicious way then please do pass on your information."
