The 47-year-old woman was working at the Corrieri Drycleaners on Broomlands Street when a weapon-wielding thug barged in and demanded cash.

He stormed into the shop just after 4pm on Monday before jumping over the counter making off with a three-figure sum of cash.

Cops said the 57-year-old female member of staff was uninjured but she has been left badly shaken by the incident.

The suspect is described as white, between 5ft 3 and 5ft 5 inches in height, with a medium to stocky build and Scottish accent.

He was wearing a yellow hi-visibility vest over a dark coloured top, dark trousers, white trainers and wearing a black woolly hat. He was last seen running up towards .

Officers are gathering CCTV in an effort to find out more detail on the suspect.

Detective Constable Andrew Henderson said: “I am appealing to anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the incident, perhaps you noticed the man acting a little suspiciously or perhaps you saw him running up towards the cemetery.
