MY name is Mhairi Black and I am the candidate for Paisley and Renfrewshire South. I was born in Paisley and have lived all my life there.

I have always been politically motivated for the pursuit of social justice and it is for this reason I have been volunteering for different organisations such as Oxfam for many years.

I carried this interest throughout my education and into university where I am currently in my final year studying Politics and Public Policy.

In growing up in this society, one of the consistent features that I have witnessed has been the levels of poverty and injustice that ordinary people are forced to endure through policies implemented by comfortable and out of touch politicians.

Whether it be Labour governments or Conservative governments, it is clear that the Westminster establishment have continually let down the people of Scotland.

Therefore, I truly believe that the only way to bring the powers we were promised, and the social justice that Scotland so desperately needs, is to have a strong group of SNP MP’s at Westminster to ensure our voices are heard.

The SNP exist for no other purpose than to represent and stand up for the interests of Scotland. Unlike the Labour Party, we do not have to bend to the will of the south east of England or answer to a leadership based in London. We answer to no one except the people of Scotland. Westminster is an establishment that desperately needs to be shaken and the SNP are the only party offering to do that. Vote for a party which puts people first, vote for a fresh start - vote SNP.
