HERE is what is making the headlines in this week's Gazette.

JOHNSTONE town centre faces weeks of disruption as essential water works are carried out over the summer.

Scottish Water will carry out a series of upgrade works which will affect traffic on some of the areas busiest streets for four weeks.

Community council figures have slated the length of time it will take to carry out the works.

ELDERSLIE residents are in mourning following the tragic death of a local girl.

Amber Cameron, 8, died after she was hit by a bus on Barclay Avenue on Tuesday, June 5.

Friends and family have left touching mementos and notes at the scene of the accident including school T-shirts from Wallace Primary where Amber was a pupil.

A HOWWOOD couple were jubilant after winning tickets to attend the Queens Diamond Jubilee concert at Buckingham Palace last week.

Margaret McGinley, 51, claimed the one in a lifetime prize after entering a competition online.

And Margaret and husband Joe, 50, even got the chance to enjoy a picnic in the palace gardens prior to the big event.
