This is the hilarious moment a professional footballer started a cheeky workout in the middle of a gridlocked motorway as he was running late for training.

David McCracken, 35, was stuck in a lengthy traffic jam as Storm Doris hit Scotland causing lengthy delays for commuters.

The Falkirk defender was in his full training kit for the Scottish Championship team when he became stuck in a traffic jam.

The former Dundee United and St Johnstone player jumped out of the car and used a resistance band to work on his glutes between cars in the freezing conditions.

In a post on social media he said: "Use your time effectively.

"So stuck in a massive jam on way to training, rather than just sit why not get out and get some glute work done."

David McCracken said he got out of the car for his workout on a road near Cumbernauld, North Lanarkshire.

He said: "There was a bit of a tailback because of the conditions on the M80.

"I took a back road and ended up meeting one of the boys. We had a bit of a laugh and banter because we were late.

"I jumped out and did a bit of a workout and trained the glute muscles. It's the kind of workout we do before training.

"It was just a bit of tongue-in-cheek fun."
