Rangers hero Fernando Ricksen has opened up about his four-year battle with Motor Neurone Disease in a new interview.

The Gers footballer opened doors to a camera crew to film his everyday life and following his heartbreaking fight with the disease.

For the last eight months, every aspect of his life with wife Veronika has been filmed to create a special documentary set to air on Dutch TV tonight.

The camera shows Ricksen getting dressed and washed as well as a sit down interview with him and his wife.

It also documents his trips to back to Glasgow where he underwent operations and encountered devoted fans.

Ricksen hopes people will be inspired by the documentary and by his sense of fighting spirit.

Veronika said: "He wants people to see how alive he is, that there is still life.

The hour long documentary will be screened on Dutch TV tonight.

The Ibrox champ now lives in Valencia, Spain, with Veronika and daughter Isabella, four after his diagnosis in 2013.

While at Rangers, he won two league titles, two Scottish Cups and three league cups.
