A HORSE has been seriously injured after being struck by a car on a Renfrewshire road.
The rider was uninjured but left badly shaken after the accident on Wednesday evening.
A grey or green coloured Nissan X-Trail or Terrano motor vehicle hit the horse and rider at around 5.10pm.
The driver initially stopped but fled the scene before providing any details.
The collision happened on the B788 Auchenfoil Road near to Margaretsmill Farm between Kilmalcolm and Greenock.
Police are now urging the driver to come forward and appealing for witnesses to get in touch.
Constable John Hill from the Divisional Road Policing Unit said: "The road was reasonably busy at the time of this collision and I would ask anyone who witnessed either the collision itself or the vehicle involved to contact the Police on 101."
