Thousands of pounds worth of tools were stolen from the leather works in Bridge of Weir.

The theft took place on Sunday, March 21 just after 8pm inside the building on Kilbarchan Road.

It is believed that a man forced open the rear door of the property to gain access to the building.

A number of high-end power tools were taken with a value of £2,000 including a mix of cordless power drills, saws and battery chargers.

The building was locked up and secured on Saturday afternoon however CCTV footage shows the man place the stolen items in a holdall and leave the following day.

Staff came in to work on Monday and noticed the damage to the rear door and that the power tools were missing.

The man is only described as wearing dark clothing.

Although the incident is not believed to be an inside job, it would appear that the suspect had an understanding as to where things were.

Police are appealing for witnesses.

If anyone saw anything suspicious at Kilbarchan Road on 8pm on Sunday they are asked to call 101.
