ELDERLY residents and their families should be aware of bogus callers targeting homes in Elderslie.

A recent incident saw two men approach an older woman at her home on Saturday, May 20 at 9am.

The pair came to the 85-year-old's door on Wallace Avenue when they told her they were testing water in the street.

She gave them access to the house however caught them rummaging through her drawers.

Although nothing was taken, the police and her family were called to the house.

Officers are warning those in the area to be wary and not to let unknown people into their homes.

They have also been distributing appropriate leaflets and approaching elderly people to speak to them directly.
