KILBARCHAN will come alive this weekend as the 2017 Lilias Day celebrations kick off.

Hundreds of villagers are expected to turn out for Lilifest, starting on Saturday, which features music, comedy, workshops and a family ceilidh.

Elsewhere during the festival, one of the village’s best-loved personalities, Rev Ian Miller, will be on stage at the Kilbarchan Performing Arts Centre on Thursday, June 1, donating proceeds to Kilbarchan Smile.

In the line-up at the same venue is an interactive Lego animation workshop by Morgan Spence, who has appeared on the BBC and ABC discussing his work which has been viewed more than 10 million times worldwide. The workshop will take place on Monday, May 29.

The Kilbarchan Smile Gateway Garden Party will be held on Sunday from 12pm to 4pm featuring music, stalls and the Big Bike Revival which will include free bike maintenance classes and a guided cycle at 1pm.

The village’s two pubs, Habbies and The Trust Inn, will host live music and quizzes throughout the festival, and on Sunday, June 11, the junior choir will perform at the Kilbarchan Parish Church which will include afternoon tea.

For Lilias Day itself on Saturday, June 3, the historic parade will pass through the village finishing in Kilbarchan Park. In the evening the Barchan Mad Comedy Night will return featuring a line-up of comedians including host Graham Barrie at the performing arts centre.

The family ceilidh will be at the centre on Saturday, June 17, with the area’s leading band, Clamjamfrie.
