A HOWWOOD hospice has received a £1,000 boost, thanks to generous supporters at a popular hotel.
The cash was raised for St Vincent’s Hospice by the Bowfield Hotel and Country Club, also in Howwood, through its annual 10K run.
The event is named the Grace Kissell Charity Road Race, in memory of a former Bowfield employee who was murdered in Linwood in May 2015.
This year’s run was sponsored by Decathlon and ChemTech, with around 50 people taking on a route through the Howwood countryside.
A total of £1,150 was raised, with hospice representative Laura McDade and mascot Vinnie popping into the hotel gym to collect the cheque.
Laura said: “This is a fantastic sum of money raised by those who took part in the Bowfield 10K.
“We really cannot thank the Bowfield staff and the participants of the 10K enough for their incredible efforts.”
Craig Stewart, the hotel’s general manager, added: “This run has a special significance for us, as it is named in memory of our colleague Grace.
“We are very proud to be able to support this charity.”
