SAVVY shoppers were bowled over at a special fundraising event in aid of Alzheimer Scotland.

Lochwinnoch Bowling Club played host to a craft fair offering a plethora of treats for all tastes.

Officials at the club had also planned to stage an open day for both members and non-members, only for the rain to make sure most guests stayed indoors.

Despite the wet weather, there were still plenty of activities on offer for those attending.

These included face painting for kids, a bottle stall, music and a sweetie hamper, which was raffled off in aid of Alzheimer Scotland.

Tasty treats such as hot dogs and home-baked goodies kept hungry guests fuelled and there were also other items, such as candles, framed art and crafts, available to purchase on the day.

Vincent Spalding, vice-president of Lochwinnoch Bowling Club, told the Gazette: “It was a successful day, although it was a shame about the rain.

“Regardless, there was a good attendance, with lots of stalls to entice shoppers.

“There were around 13 stalls in total and Angela Graham, of Alzheimer Scotland, had her own stall set up.

“The total amount of cash raised for charity has still to be counted, however I estimate it to be hundreds of pounds.

“Our thanks go to everyone who attended and helped to raise vital funds for charity.

“We look forward to hosting our next event at the club, which is likely to be in the winter.”
