A HOTEL in Howwood has unveiled a new restaurant following a significant investment programme.

The Bowfield Hotel and Country Club has welcomed the new restaurant called The Plumpy Duck, which is now open for business.

This is part of a £1.5million redevelopment programme which also includes a revamp of The Stables Bar.

The name The Plumpy Duck was derived to create a separate identity and personality for the restaurant while The Stables is a nod to the hotel’s heritage as an equestrian centre.

The menu offers dishes such as steak and ale pie, roast chicken, haddock and pork belly, while many of the specials will serve up duck options.

The redevelopment at the Bowfield Hotel has been taking place in timed phases to allow the hotel to remain open for its members and visitors while work is ongoing.

The new restaurant, kitchen and refurbished bar is the first phase of the development to be completed.

The second phase includes an extension to the existing spa facilities.

In addition to the new reception areas, bar, restaurant, kitchen and spa developments, attention will also be given to the exterior of the building.

Looking further ahead – work will be starting on a new function room in January 2018, and there are plans to create an additional honeymoon suite.

Craig Stewart, general manager of The Bowfield Hotel said: "The restaurant and bar are stunning, and offer great food in a relaxing atmosphere.

"We’ve already had lots of positive feedback. I’m delighted we can offer this level of service and dining to our visitors, and I’m excited to see all the future developments unfold."
