TRIBUTES have been paid to an Inchinnan father and committed fundraiser who died suddenly while on a charity bike ride and hill climb.

Raymond Balloch, 58, was found lifeless on a bench up Beinn Chabhair near Loch Lomond by friends after suffering a heart attack.

He was attempting to complete a 50-mile cycle and trek to raise cash for Rainbow Valley.

It is believed a blood clot caused a blockage which led to his death.

Devastated daughter Laura, 27, said her dad seemed ‘unbreakable’ and everyone is still in shock.

She told the Gazette: “I always thought he would just live forever. Nothing was a challenge to him.

“We are all very shocked and I think it’s going to take a while for it to sink in.

“My dad was the happy chappy type though he wouldn’t have wanted us to be sad. He would say life is too short for that so we are all trying to move on as he would’ve wanted.

“He did loads of charity rides and walks and has raised an incredible amount over the years. I’d like to carry on fundraising in his memory.

“He was the unbreakable dad to me, he had never had enough.”

Raymond, a life-long St Mirren fan and season-ticket holder, was known as Wee Raymie and one of his greatest memories was taking part in a Saint for a Day football match.

The Rolls Royce engineer raised hundreds of thousands for charity over the years.

A funeral was held on Saturday at Clydebank Crematorium before family and friends gathered to remember him at Ingliston Country Club in Bishopton.

Laura added: “It was the perfect send-off. Everyone is very upset but we will just try our best to keep his legacy alive.”

Raymond is survived by wife Karen and brother Crawford as well as Laura.
