VILLAGERS had a bloomin’ wonderful day at the annual Bridge of Weir flower show.

More than 100 people packed into the Royal British Legion centre which was full of every colour on Saturday with every corner of the room adorned in petals and greenery.

From fruit and vegetables to floral art and potted plants, visitors enjoyed getting their hands on tasty ingredients for their Sunday roast and stunning plants for their garden before the summer runs out.

Show secretary and Bridge of Weir Horticultural Society member, Anne Matthews, told the Gazette: “We had plenty of amazing exhibits this year which was my first as secretary for the show.

“It’s taken a lot out of me but it was good fun.

“The rain got in the way a bit with people bringing exhibits the day before but it all worked out well in the end.

“The children’s section was particularly good this year with kids aged five to 16 getting involved.

“It’s really our main event of the year this so I’m pleased it went well and thanks to everyone who came – and especially the entrants”
