GREEN-FINGERED guests were able to enjoy the great outdoors as St Vincent’s Hospice welcomed them to its colourful garden.

The Howwood hospice invited people along as part of the Scotland’s Gardens scheme, which sees private gardens across the country open up to the public to raise cash for charities.

Around 200 worthy causes benefit annually from the 40 per cent of the takings that are donated to the charities chosen by the garden owners.

The remaining 60 per cent is given to Scotland’s Gardens beneficiaries.

Fundraiser Katrina Vine said that, despite some soggy weather, everyone who went along to the event at St Vincent’s had a good time.

She added: “The weather was not kind to us and this affected the attendance a little bit but everyone who did come along loved having a look round the garden and having a cup of tea and some cake.

“They all said how lovely and tranquil it was.

“I think it’s something we will aim to take part in every year – and hope for better weather next time.”

St Vincent’s Hospice cares for those with life-limiting illnesses across Renfrewshire.

A dedicated team of volunteers help out in the charity’s fundraising shops and in the hospice itself but there is always room for new recruits.
