FURTHER improvement works at the Deafhillock Roundabout have been pushed back.
For months, motorists were left fuming over roadworks that were causing severe congestion in Johnstone and the surrounding villages.
Property developers Barratt Homes were carrying out work at the Brookfield site until December 10 as part of a new development – known as Barratt at Weirs Wynd – that will offer a mix of three and four-bedroom homes.
Now further works on the A737 eastbound which were due to take place next month have been pushed back to Spring 2018.
Councillor Natalie Don, who represents Bishopton, Bridge of Weir and Langbank, said: “I have been assured that, when these works do take place, they will not be to the same scale or cause as much disruption as the previous works.
“I can also confirm that resurfacing works are now scheduled for the A761 – the main road leaving Bridge of Weir – in January.
“I understand that further roadworks will not be welcomed by everyone, however this should only last a matter of days and will make a huge difference.
“I have had many complaints about this road, which is in a shocking state at sections. Once it is complete, it will hopefully give everyone a much smoother and safer drive.”
