Local man scoops top award for leadership

A LOCHWINNOCH catering expert has won a prestigious award for leadership skills.

Kevin Logan scooped the top gong for his management skills in the catering world at the Cost Sector Catering Awards last week.

The 37-year-old was crowned Contract Catering District Manager of the year.

Delighted Kevin said: 'This is such a great moment in my career - it certainly makes all of the hard work well worth it.

'To know that your efforts are recognised by your employer and judged as a leading performance in front of hundreds of your peers makes me feel so proud.

'The win has given me even more determination to reach greater heights in my career and continue making sure my clients and customers receive the best possible food services at work.'

Kevin grew up in Lochwinnoch and attended St Michael"s Academy, in Kilwinning.

He went on to study at Glasgow College of Food and Nutrition.

Kevin"s career has seen him move around the country, but he frequently returns home to visit her parents who remain living in Lochwinnoch.

He was nominated for the award by his employer, BaxterStorey, the UK"s leading independent food service provider for business and industry.

As an operations manager for the company, Kevin is responsible for the management of 12 of the company"s major accounts throughout the country - worth approximately £10m.

He is also responsible for the development and motivation of 215 people who cater and service the accounts.

Kevin was presented with his award by the evening"s guest celebrity, Cheryl Baker from Bucks Fizz.

John Bennett, managing director, BaxterStorey, explained why the company nominated Kevin.

He said: 'Nominating Kevin is a way of showing our absolute appreciation for his unrelenting enthusiasm and dedication which deliver such superb results.

'We"re thrilled that his success has been recognised at these very important awards and are sure his career will continue to flourish.'
