A BISHOPTON woman is to be recognised as one of Scotland"s top carers.
Caring Sharon Orr has been selected from more than 200 entries as a finalist for the Children and Families Employee of the Year Award at the Scottish Care at Home Awards 2009.
The ceremony, which takes place at the Glasgow Marriot Hotel on Friday May 29 celebrates the brightest stars in the caring industry.
Sharon, who is a homecare supervisor at Ailsa Care Services in Renfrew, is over the moon that she has been recognised as a finalist for the awards.
She said: 'I"m absolutely thrilled that I have been chosen as a finalist in the Scottish Care at Home awards.
'I can"t believe that I have been nominated for this. I"m really looking forward to the awards ceremony and even if I don"t win, just being nominated has made me feel really special.
'It"s a wonderful feeling to have received this recognition as a finalist. It has really blown me away.'
Sharon added: 'I have been in the industry for six years now and I really do love it. It is so satisfying and I"ve met a lot of nice people along the way.
'Starting at Ailsa Care services was really the turning point which made me realise that this is definitely the career for me.'
Linda Smith, Service Manager at Ailsa Care Services, who nominated Sharon for her outstanding work, said: 'I am delighted that Sharon has been shortlisted for a care award.
'Sharon is perfectly suited to this profession and always gives 100 per cent. She is very passionate about working with children and families and her enthusiasm has been truly infectious among the rest of our staff.'
She added: 'Whatever the outcome at the awards ceremony, she is a winner in our eyes.'
The conference is designed for both those working at senior level commissioning, developing, planning services and those providing care and support to families, children, older people and adults across the wide continuum of care in Scotland.
