Pink ladies tribute to Jayne
A BRIDGE of Weir lady is getting by with a little help from her friends as they rallied round to raise funds in honour of her daughter who died suddenly last year.
Ailsa Gibson - of Ailsa"s Salon on Kirkinner Place - had her life turned upside down when Jayne passed away from leukemia on November 3 2008 - aged just 22.
Now staff and regulars at the salon, along with friends and family, have together raised more than £2,000 this month for cancer charities in remembrance of the "kind, loving girl" much missed.
Ailsa, 46, said: 'All the salon staff ran the Race for Life this month in honour of Jane. So far we have raised over £2,000. Customers to the salon - and friends - gave us donations, and family and friends joined us on the day.'
She added: 'I would like to thank all the people who kindly donated - it is very much appreciated.
'My husband Alastair and I are very grateful for all the support we have had from everyone.
'A special thanks to Lilian and Christine for all their support in the last seven months. I couldn"t have done it without them.
'Our whole life has been turned upside down. Jayne was only 22 years old and had so much more life to live.
'We have all been left devastated - her brother Mark, is 19 years old, and is shattered.
'She was a warm, kind, loving girl - everyone has been shocked by the sudden loss of Jayne.'
The pharmacist - who had started work at Stirling Royal Infirmary - collapsed and had a serious headache on November 1 last year and was rushed to the Royal Alexandra Hospital.
By the time she was examined, doctors had to sedate her as she had a massive bleed on the brain, and she was diagnosed with leukemia. Jayne was taken straight up to the Southern General ITU to have an operation but unfortunately they could not save her.
Ailsa said: 'This was the day that we were supposed to be going with her boyfriend Stuart to his graduation.
'Instead we were having to come to terms with losing our beautiful daughter.'
