A MUM has paid tribute to her 'wonderful' son who tragically lost his life in a freak road accident.

Fraser Armour died after his motorbike veered off the road and crashed into a wall in Kilmacolm.

The 24-year-old was driving in Auchenbothie Gardens on Friday July 24 when the tragic accident happened.

He was rushed to Inverclyde Royal Hospital but, despite doctors' best efforts, passed away a short time later.

Devastated mum Marion, 53, said: "It's a complete tragedy - he was a wonderful son.

"Fraser was the most safety-conscious person you could meet.

"He was just visiting from Aberdeen where he was living and went out on his bike to meet an old friend for lunch.

"Fraser had all the possible safety equipment on that day. He actually used to tell off other bikers if he saw them driving without a helmet.

"It was a split-second thing - his chest hit the wall straight on, so all the safety gear in the world couldn't save him."

Fraser had been living in Aberdeen with his Polish girlfriend Magda Borek where he was a geography teacher at Peterhead Academy.

He was an experienced rider, getting his first bike for his 21st birthday but had only been driving his beloved Aprilia 1000 motorcycle for four months.

Tragically, the sports fanatic was only home to be fitted for his uniform after deciding upon a new career with Strathclyde Police.

He was due to enrol at the Jackton training centre on August 31.

Heartbroken Magda, 27, said: "He was my entire life - I don't know what I'll do without him.

"He was so popular and always made me laugh when I was feeling stressed about my studies.

"The range of friends that he had was incredible - all ages and backgrounds.

"He wanted a more stable career as he couldn't guarantee getting a permanent teaching job so he applied for the police.

"I'm just devastated - it still hasn't sunk in."

Fraser's mum added: "For this to have happened to a boy as careful and safety-aware as Fraser is unbelievable.

"My message to other bikers would be - please be extra cautious."

Flowers have been laid at the spot where the former Gourock Academy pupil died, and the entire village has been shocked by the news.

Friends and neighbours in Rannoch Road have rallied round to support Marion, dad Willie, 59 and younger sister Morven, 22.

The Gazette's Kilmacolm columnist Geraldine McCullough called Fraser a 'lovely boy'.

She said: "Fraser had all life had to offer before him.

"He was such a lovely boy.

"Such a tragic loss - all our thoughts are with his family at this time."

At the the time of going to press, the date for Fraser's funeral, which will take place at the Old Kirk in Kilmacolm, has not been decided as a post mortem is to be carried out.
