A JOHNSTONE man is set to stand trial charged with allegedly mowing down a pedestrian while under the influence of alcohol.
He appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court on Friday charged with alleged assault with an alternative charge of alleged dangerous driving and drink driving.
The 27-year-old man was allegedly seen arguing with a man in Overton Crescent, in Johnstone, around 11pm on the night in question.
It is believed the pair went their separate ways before the accused allegedly got into a car and drove it towards the 22 year old man.
The accused then allegedly drove off leaving the man in a shaken state.
Police were quickly on the scene and were able to locate the driver later on that night and he was arrested.
A police report was filed to the Procurator Fiscal.
The accused from Johstone, appeared in Paisley Sheriff Court and was bailed pending a further appearance at court later next month.
