ALIENS have landed in Howwood.
The extraterrestrials are visiting the village after hearing there is an alien theme for this year's Howwood Village Fete.
They have decided to visit a month early as they were told that the children may need their help in two special alien competitions that are running up until the big day on Saturday June 19.
It will also give D'kki and his friends the chance to get to know the locals and they have already been spotted in the village shops and the Howwood Inn.
The Howwood Fete Working Group came up with the theme to revamp the day and get the whole community involved.
Christine Scarsbrook, spokesperson for the group, said: "We decided on an alien theme as it is easy to do and kids can run with their imaginations.
"It will revamp the whole thing.
"We have 31 stalls which is an unprecedented number for us.
" We've maybe had 15 stalls in the past but we have created a lot more publicity and a lot more people in the community are getting involved."
Although there is some changes in store for this year's community event people can still expect to see all the old favourites including a bouncy castle and burger van.
Two fun alien competitions will also feature throughout the day.
The first competition is asking children to create a model alien and bring it along to the fete.
The alien could be like Na'vi from Avatar or a cuddly creature from Monster Inc - anything goes as long as it is made out of fruit, vegetables or recyclable materials.
There will be a winner in each section - one prize in the five to eight year old category and winner in the nine and over section.
The second competition is an Alien Fancy Dress Parade which will take place on the day.
The committee are asking children to make an alien costume out of recycling materials and the two best costumes - one from the up to five years age group and one in the five to 11 age group - will receive a special prize.
Christine added: "Model making and fancy dress competition will involve the whole village and the children will bring along their parents and grandparents."
Registration forms and rules for the competitions are being handed in to primary schools in the area and all shops in the village will also have the details.
