ONE of Hollywood's biggest stars has his eyes on Inchinnan where an innovative design firm has developed a revolutionary smartphone camera device with blockbuster potential.

Boffins at Meso Design have played a principal role in creating the lightweight device "Popa" - which transforms an iphone into an instant camera for less than £50.

The cutting-edge accessory - which runs using a free downloadable app - has already caught the attention of Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks, who has contacted developers personally to find out more.

The lightweight device attaches to the base of the iPhone, instantly transforming the smartphone into a point and shoot camera, allowing users to take instant pictures without first having to access their iPhone, open their camera, frame the picture and click - all of which takes precious time.

Bosses at Meso Design - which despite its size boasts clients including the SECC, Whyte and Mackay and the Famous Grouse - hope the launch of the new iPhone 4S earlier last month will help boost sales of the new product, one of a series of new devices expected from the Renfrewshire firm in the coming months.
