A FREE bus service is set to be piloted which operators hope will provide better access to sports facilities in Erskine and Bishopton.

The new evening service started on Monday, and has been launched in response to concerns from the Local Area Committee that residents in Bishopton were experiencing difficulty in reaching Erskine Community Sports Centre as well as Park Mains School.

The wheel-chair friendly CB3 weekday service will be operated by Community Transport Glasgow (CTG) in the evenings, from 7.30pm until 10.30pm, for 12 months.

SPT member for Renfrewshire Council, Bill Perrie said: "I am delighted that SPT and Community Transport Glasgow have been able to make sure residents in Bishopton and Erskine now have a free bus service which caters for their needs.

"This new bus service is another excellent example of the work SPT does in supporting the community transport sector and local people."

The CB3 will link Bishopton Station via Station Road, Greenock Road, Porton Place, Old Greenock Road, Linburn Road, Linburn turning area, Linburn Road, Old Greenock Road, Barhill Road, Old Greenock Road, Park Way, Newshot Drive, Kilpatrick Drive, Bridgewater Shopping Centre, Kilpatrick Drive, Newshot Drive, Rashielea Avenue, Rashielea Road and Barhill Road to Bargarran Roundabout.
