Ice-cool Rachael Ferrier, 18, earned two fabulous fifth place finishes along with visually impaired partner Millie Knight, who she guided through the giant slalom and ordinary slalom events in Russia.

The duo had an unforgettable time in Sochi and gave a great account of themselves among experienced international competitors after being paired together just a few months ago.

Former St Columba’s School pupil Rachael and the team arrived back in the UK last week and they were soon ushered off to meet the Prime Minister and comic James Corden at 10 Downing Street.

PM David Cameron congratulated them on their achievements and posed for pictures alongside the athletes, including Rachael.

Rachael, pictured to the right of Mr Cameron, said: “The whole thing was a bit surreal.

“The Prime Minister was mostly talking to the medal winners, but to be inside 10 Downing Street, not many people get to do that.

“To have that experience was really great.

“The place is really fancy. We had a cup of tea then David Cameron just strolled in, then we were told there was another surprise guest and James Corden came in.

“He was just having a bit of banter with the team and was really funny.” Mr Cameron tweeted a picture and praised the team members for their efforts.

He said: “Incredibly proud of Paralympics GB, showing off their fantastic haul of medals at No 10.”
