The development’s South Access Road will link the scheme to the existing A8 on Greenock Road via a new roundabout situated at Lochranza cottage.

The new Barrangary Road will also be one of two main access routes into the recently named Dargavel Village development.

The £10.3 million project has also included the construction of a new concrete bridge crossing the main Glasgow–Inverclyde railway line, the installation of water drainage systems as well as a total of 1.2km of new road and footpaths and cycle paths.

Bishopton MSP Derek Mackay toured the new facilities with BAE Systems infrastructure project manager Chris Peat and welcomed the continued progress on site.

He sid: “The development at Bishopton is very impressive and clearly taking shape.

“The new road infrastructure is a welcome addition, with great views and neat access to Dargavel village.

“I was delighted to join the developers to formally open the new road, and look forward to the on-going development of the site.”
