It is believed the Cry Me a River singer had been staying at the village’s plush Mar Hall hotel ahead of his gig at Glasgow’s SSE Hydro venue last week.

The American superstar was spotted by villagers outside the five-star venue as well as putting himself through a workout at the hotel gym.

But, despite waiting patiently to see the former N Sync singer, fans were left reeling after he reportedly snubbed their pleas for autographs.

Timberlake, who is married to actress Jessica Biel, is said to have looked the other away when crowds attempted to attract his attention outside. The 33-year-old didn’t bother stopping or even acknowledging disappointed locals, who took to social media site Twitter to express their outrage over the alleged snub.

One irate Bishopton resident, Leanne @LeaRus81 posted on Twitter: “Just seen @jtimberlake at Mar Hall and he totally snubbed the fans outside! #NotCoolJT.

“Justin Timberlake has just been spotted snubbing fans outside Mar Hall, Glasgow! Oooouch!” MyLittleMixThoughts @LittleMixMind retweeted the comments, saying: “Some celebrities are RUDE.” Meanwhile, one fan was lucky enough to get up close and personal with Tennesse-born Timberlake, while he put himself through a pre-concert workout in the Mar Hall gym.

Gerard Docherty ‏@GerardDocherty tweeted: “Was just beside Justin Timberlake in the mar hall gym haha #claimtofame.” Justin brought his 20/20 Experience World Tour to a 13,000 strong audience in Glasgow last Friday.

He was more than happy to build a rapport with those who attended the concert, telling fans: “90 per cent of the time I have been in Scotland, I can’t remember what has happened as we all like to drink a wee bit.” However, staff at the Mar Hall hotel stayed tightlipped over his reported hotel stay.

A spokeswoman for the hotel would only comment: “We cannot confirm any guests due to confidentiality.”
