The 32-year-old man was brutally assaulted in the village’s Main Street in the early hours of Sunday, April 20, after a night out.
He was rushed to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley where he received stitches to a serious head wound and treatment for other facial injuries. The victim has since been released but police are now appealing for witnesses to step forward with any information.
Detective Constable Neil Andrew, Renfrewshire CID, is leading the enquiry. He said: “The injured male had been out with friends in pubs local to Bridge of Weir.
“About 1pm or shortly thereafter in the early hours he became involved in a disturbance involving a group of people on the Main Street of Bridge of Weir near to ‘Chillies’ takeaway. He was attacked resulting in injuries to his head and face.
“Officers are checking CCTV from the area and carrying out other local enquiries. However, I appeal to anyone who was in the area and saw the incident or who has any information that may assist the enquiry to contact Paisley CID or any other police officer.” Anyone with information can contact police via the non emergency number 101 or in confidence to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
