Burly Steven Muir, 29, from Neilston, East Renfrewshire, made the sick remark after a Police Scotland helicopter crashed into the roof the Clutha Bar in Glasgow,.

Ten people died, including Lochwinnoch pilot Daily Traill, two police officers and seven people inside the pub.

Elderslie dad Gary Arthur and Renfrew man Craig Bain were among those in the pub when the £2.3million aircraft — which was being piloted by Mr Traill — crash-landed.

Muir was arrested by cops after he gave them the v signs as they patrolled Argyle Street, Glasgow, on December 3, last year.

As they drove him in their police van towards Stewart Street police station Muir, who is employed airside at Glasgow Airport on security and cleaning duties, began shouting and swearing.

Depute fiscal Tracy Paterson told Glasgow Sheriff Court: “He said: ‘Your helicopter pilot’s no got a f***ing parachute and all your f***ing police are dead.’ She said this was a reference to the Clutha disaster.

The court heard that Muir, who had been drinking and had taken cocaine, also said to police officers: “I’ll rape your sisters.” At the holding area at the police station he tried to head-butt two officers and had to be restrained as he lashed out.

Defence lawyer Callum Hiller said: “These offences are entirely abhorrent. He accepts that his behaviour was unacceptable.and extremely serious.in respect to the remarks.” Muir admitted shouting, swearing and uttering threatening remarks during a journey from Argyle Street, Glasgow on December 3, 2013.

He also pleaded guilty to attempting to head-butt two police officers and struggling violently at Stewart Street police office.

Sheriff Ian Miller ordered Muir to perform 260 hours unpaid work in the community.
