Kilbarchan Smile say they are all about making the historic village a better place to live, work and visit by getting involved.

Initial interest has led to more than 250 members of a new Facebook group and meetings with key stakeholders. A series of tidy ups are being organised and have already started with tidy up of the woodland area next to Burntshields Road that was carried out with assistance from Community Payback and Greener Renfrewshire “Do Your Bit” teams.

Damon Scott, one of the Kilbarchan residents who helped set up the group, said: “Now we are looking for more individuals who want to make a difference to the village come along and do their bit for the Big Clear Up on September 5.” Kilbarchan Smile’s Big Clear Up, a more general village tidy up, is all set for Saturday, September 5 from 11.45am-4pm meeting at the new car parking area opposite Bog Park and the organisers are looking for volunteers to help with this. Greener Renfrewshire Do You Bit provided equipment including litter pickers, hi viz vests, bags, bag hoops and gloves.

The group now have a specially designed logo that was kindly created by Kilbarchan artist, Kay Nicholson of MyMoonGarden. The logo symbolises growth, community, vibrancy and progression.
