Jeremy Corbyn I have recently written to Jeremy Corbyn to congratulate him on his election as leader of the UK Labour Party.

Jeremy Corbyn’s leadership campaign shared a lot in common with campaigns run by the SNP – and that’s why both have managed to galvanise an electorate which were completely disillusioned by the political process.

However, after a series of U-turns and misleading statements, it appears that instead of changing the Labour Party, the Labour Party has changed Jeremy.

That’s why in my letter to Mr Corbyn, I expressed my disappointment over the false and misleading statements that he made in an interview with the BBC when he claimed that the Scottish Government had privatised the rail service and Caledonian MacBrayne.

Mr Corbyn should really know that Caledonian MacBrayne is a public organisation, owned by the Scottish Government, and the rail service was privatised by the Conservatives in 1993 through the passing of the Railways Act.

I know that previous leaders of the UK Labour Party have treated Scottish Labour as a ‘branch office’, and have therefore had a limited understanding of the political, social and economic nature of Scotland. Either Mr Corbyn is being briefed incorrectly by someone from Scottish Labour or he is deliberately misleading the public.

Bridgewater Housing Association I recently met with the senior management team of Bridgewater Housing Association to speak about a number of issues that have been raised with me locally, and also to hear more about their plans for the future.

Housing is the number one issue that constituents will raise with me and despite the Scottish Government building 26,972 new affordable housing since 2011, it’s clear that there is still a significant need for housing in Scotland.

As such, housing associations, like Bridgewater, play an important part in trying to resolve people’s housing needs and demands.

Positive Youth Employment Statistics I was pleased to see recent independent statistics which showed that the rate of young people in Scotland is at a 10-year high.

However, despite this there is still more work to do but these independent statistic do validate the approach that the SNP Scottish Government have taken to tackle the blight of youth unemployment The pro-active approach taken by the Scottish Government is in stark contrast to the one taken by the UK Government, who appear want to tackle youth employment by attacking young people who find themselves in an unfortunate position of being unemployed.
