Small Business Saturday
Small Business Saturday was last Saturday, but understandably the weather put a bit of a dampener on things.
Small Businesses need our support at all times, however, and the run up to the festive period is the perfect time to shop locally and support those who play such a vital role in our community.
You can find a huge list of your local small businesses at https://www.smallbusinesssaturdayuk.com/small-business-finder.
Flooding
We had exceptionally bad weather of the weekend and I know, amongst a large number of places, Castle Semple had to close early make sure their staff could get home safely, as well as some parts of Elderslie and Johnstone being hit by flooding and disruption to local bus services.
I was very sorry to hear about those affected, particularly in the run up to Christmas.
At the moment there is no current future flood warnings in the area, however we all know that can change without a moments notice and it is always better to be prepared.
If you stay in an area affected by flooding, it is highly recommended to have a “flood kit” made up, and kept in a safe area.
Useful things to include would be, a torch, warm clothing, a battery radio, welly boots, and any medications you need.
Always remember that as soon as flood water begins to enter your home, move everyone (including your pets), upstairs or to higher ground straight away. It is also imperative to know how to turn off your gas and electricity in case you have to evacuate your home.
While I hope no one is affected by flooding, it is always important to be prepared for the worst case scenarios and there is a great amount of information to be found on the Renfrewshire Council website, to make sure you are as well prepared as you can be: http://www.renfrewshire.gov.uk/webcontent/home/services/environment/flooding/pt-mb-emergency-advice-on-flooding
