A NEW report has revealed that Renfrewshire is now ranked 30th out of 32 council areas in Scotland for street cleaning.

It highlights that street cleaning has been reduced for areas outside of town centres, main routes and known litter hotspots.

However, the information in the report will be of no surprise to the people of Renfrewshire, who have been complaining for years about the condition of our streets.

My constituency office is inundated with complaints, which are passed to Renfrewshire Council.

This is the result of year after year of cuts to street cleaning and environmental budgets, as well as complete mismanagement by Labour.

The people of Renfrewshire have had enough. To be ranked the third-worst council area in Scotland is unacceptable and Labour have nobody to blame but themselves.

Manifesto launch

Last week, the SNP launched its manifesto for the Renfrewshire Council elections in May.

The manifesto was launched at Renfrew Town Hall - a building renovated while I was council leader.

This is a perfect example of the kind of thing a SNP council administration can deliver.

The new Johnstone Town Hall, new Park Mains High School, in Erskine, and town centre and council housing upgrades across Renfrewshire are just some examples of the SNP delivering for locals.

The manifesto reflects the desire of Renfrewshire people to see improvements in education, the environment and local infrastructure. Putting communities at the heart of decisions will be key to any new SNP administration.

The people of Renfrewshire have an opportunity to elect a new council with fresh ideas and a renewed sense of purpose.

The SNP are fielding a dynamic team, which I am very happy to support.
