There are some things that you just can’t understand or explain.

For example, why on Earth would anyone want to trash Lamont Farm?

Over the weekend, vandals struck at the farm, leaving the place in a right state.

I am proud to say that, over the years, I have helped raise money for this successful community project, which has done so much for so many people and animals.

So many folk volunteer their time and energy to keep the place clean, help with repairs and fundraise to meet the costs of vet bills and food for the animals.

That’s why it’s so disappointing when a mindless few come along and trash the place, spray-painting the buildings and causing mess.

There really is no point wasting time trying to work out what goes on in their small minds but it seems the net just might be tightening on those responsible.

On the same evening, a group of drunken teenagers were seen moving their way through the top of Millfield and into Linburn, discarding beer cans into gardens as they went.

Maybe these two incidents are not connected but, then again, they might be, so if you have any information that might help the police with their inquiries, you are urged to contact them as soon as possible.

In the meantime, a Justgiving page has been set up to help raise funds to clear the mess at Lamont Farm.

This money could, of course, have been spent on animal feed or vet bills but will instead have to be earmarked for putting things back to how they were before the vandals struck.

Let’s show everyone at Lamont Farm that our community does care and is prepared to do something positive for such a worthy cause.

And, should the culprits be caught, perhaps the powers-that-be could arrange for them to muck out the stables and barns and whitewash the walls?
