A hard-fought win away to Vale of Clyde on Saturday extended the side’s win run to four victories in all competitions with a tricky home tie against Lesmahagow looming this weekend.

However, despite Frew’s lofty position, Clark insists there is no way his side will get ahead of themselves.

He told Gazette Sport: “We are doing ok, Saturday maybe wasn’t our best performance but the result is obviously the most important thing.

“I was impressed with the resilience we showed against a very good Vale of Clyde side, but I’m still looking for more.

“There is still a lot of time left in this season, and we will only reflect once it is done. We know what we expect and the signs are looking good as things stand.” Saturday’s win, coupled with defeats for fellow promotion hunters St Roch’s and Thorniewood United, moved Frew to second in the table.

Clark admits the mood in the camp is high, and that their recent move to their New Western Park ground has made a big difference.

He added: “Everything is positive and there is a good buzz about the place at the moment.

“It is a pleasure playing home games and the boys are well looked after. That rubs off and it is great to be a part of it.” On the playing side Renfrew have moved to strengthen the ranks with the recent additions of returning striker Chris Zok, and midfielder Ross Loughlin from St Anthony’s.

Zok returns following a spell at Rutherglen Glencairn, and will be looking to rekindle of potent strikeforce with Alain Kinney, which has previously graced the Frew side.

Clark said: “You know what you are going to get from Kinney, goals, that’s what he does.

“Having Zok there is also a massive boost, and with Scott Arthur leaving for Vale of Leven, it was great to get something sorted.

“We have a lot of boys who have been here before, and we are now able to attract that calibre of player thanks to the form and the facilities.

“It is a good squad we have here but we need to work hard on the pitch to merit a promotion push.”
