Goals from new signing Darren Jones and Marc McDaid gave Renfrew a 2-0 win against Central District First bottom side Dunipace Juniors at Westfield Park on Saturday.

The three points keeps Renfrew at the summit, four points clear of Wishaw Juniors, who beat Neilston on Saturday, and seven points clear of Rossvale, who were on cup duty.

The second and third-placed teams have games in hand on Colin Clark and Martin Ferry’s men.

Next week Renfrew FC make the trip to Provanmill to take on St Rochs, who must be confident following their 5-0 win away at Carluke.

Frew were victorious the last time the sides met in December at New Western Park a 3-2 win.

Another win would strengthen Renfrew’s grip on top spot and with their playing rivals playing set for a fixture backlog to catch up on postponed games the balance of power in the title race looks to be swinging towards the New Western Park side

Meanwhile Johnstone Burgh were idle once again after their match at Keanie Park with St Anthony’s fell victim to the weather on Saturday.

Burgh have been out of action since their 2-1 home defeat to Neilston on January 23.

That defeat ended a three match unbeaten run for the Keanie Park side, which included wins over Dunipace and Larkhall Thistle.

Co-managers Colin Smith and David Brolly will be eager for their next tie to go ahead, if only to shake off the cobwebs but they face a difficult prospect as Super League Premier side Irvin Meadow visit Johnstone in the second round of the New Coin Holdings West of Scotland Cup.

Despite their lofty league status in comparison to Burgh things haven’t been going well for Irvine Meadow in the league this season.

They are rooted to the bottom of the table with four points from nine games and eight points from safety.
