Gleddoch Golf Club Ladies have got their season under way with a bang as Shirley Back claimed the honours in the first competition, with Margaret Adams runner-up.
The five clubs competition on April 10 was won by Sheena Wallace.
The previous weekend, Gleddoch Ladies lost their first round match in the Mail on Sunday competition to the ladies of Ranfurly Castle. This was a disappointing result after last year’s good run.
The captain this year is Jackie Gray, who is planning lots of competitions and fun events for the coming season.
Gleddoch Ladies welcome visitors and prospective new members. Director of golf, Kevin McAleer, can be contacted on 01475 540704.
Meanwhile, the Renfrewshire Seniors League is entering its fourth week.
Cochrane Castle and Elderslie picked up the biggest wins.
Cochrane Castle were much too strong for Ranfurly Castle and ran out 5-1 winners.
Elderslie put in a storming performance to see off Erskine, also by a 5-1 scoreline.
Last week’s results were as follows: Erskine v Renfrew – postponed; Kilmacolm v Ralston – postponed; Cochrane Castle 5 Ranfurly Castle 1; Old Ranfurly 4 Paisley 2; Ralston 2.5 Old Ranfurly 3.5; Ranfurly Castle 3.5 Kilmacolm 2.5; Renfrew 2.5 Cochrane Castle 3.5; Elderslie 5 Erskine 1; Caldwell 4.5 Paisley 1.5.
