Uplawmoor TC host open day

Uplawmoor Tennis Club is opening its courts to all comers on Sunday May 15, when it hosts an Open Day as part of the Great British Tennis Weekend.

And in the best Wimbledon tradition strawberries and cream, in the form of strawberry tarts, will be available at the Uplawmoor Club which is situated behind the Mure Hall in Tannoch Road.

There will be the opportunity for anyone who is new to tennis to enjoy an introduction to the sport, lots of fun for youngsters, and later, a chance for all to take part in a fun tournament.

Uplawmoor’s recently refurbished courts and clubhouse will be open to the public from 2pm, with coaching and tennis for juniors until 3pm, and an informal American Tournament for adults, including members and visitors, from 3pm. And it’s all absolutely free.

Club President Murray Pollok said: “There has never been a better time to think about taking up tennis, or for former players to rediscover the sport."

“Where better to take up the sport than at your local Tennis Club in Uplawmoor, which welcomes members from, the village itself, and the surrounding area, including Neilston, Lugton and Dunlop.

“Apart from opening the courts to one and all, we will provide raquets and balls, and offer coaching sessions with our top players, so all anyone needs is to turn up with a pair of trainers, and let us do the rest.

“And if that wasn’t enough we will lay on the strawberry tarts as part of the refreshments that will be available all afternoon”.
