FORMER St Mirren players Stuart Carswell and Craig Reid have made surprise moves to Icelandic club Keflavik FC.

Midfielder Carswell spent last season on loan at the Paisley 2021 Stadium, making 24 appearances for the Buddies. He has since been released by Motherwell.

Reid was also signed on loan from the Fir Park side last season, but made only six appearances under Ian Murray.

He then made the move to East End Park and played 12 times for Dunfermline Athletic as they won the the League One title. The defender was also released by the Well.

The pair will form a three-strong ex-St Mirren contingent in the small town with Marc McAusland having already made the move, making 12 appearances for the club so far.

Keflavik ply their trade in the second tier of Icelandic football after being relegated in 2015.

They are managed by former Stoke City, Nottingham Forest and Oldham Athletic midfielder Þorvaldur “Toddy” Örlygsson The coastal town is in the South West of the country and has a population of just under 15,000 people.

Keflavík played in the Europa League in 2009 after finishing second in the Icelandic Premier League in 2008. They lost to Maltese club Valletta 5-2 on aggregate.
