St Mirren midfielder Kyle Magennis has signed a new three-year contact with the club - a deal that sees Magennis committed to the Buddies until 2020.

The 18 year-old made his breakthrough this season after Jack Ross became manager, first appearing against Hibernian at Easter Road in October.

He became a regular feature in the side, making 32 appearances on his way to being named the club's Young Player of the Year.

The St Mirren youth academy graduate's previous contract had been due to end in 2019.

Magennis told the club's website: "It's brilliant.

"I've been with the club for a long time and I'd just like to repay them with a few more years where I can hopefully help take them to the Premiership.

"It was an easy decision and hopefully we can start the season the way we ended it."

St Mirren manager Jack Ross said: "It's a reflection of how happy he is at the club. For us it's a real positive sign of the feeling around the club that a young player is willing to commit for a longer period.

"He'll undoubtedly progress in his career. I know he will take it the right way and his hunger will remain the same. It's a huge boost for everybody at the club."
