GLENVALE AFC 2002s suffered Scottish Cup final heartache on Sunday as they lost out to Spartans in a penalty shoot-out.

The Paisley side were out done 4-3 in the shoot-out after a tense final at Airdrie’s Excelsior Stadium finished 0-0.

It was the first time a team from the Glenvale club had reached the national final and the young side can be proud of a great run to the showpiece final. Glenvale defeated Renfrew Victoria, Harmony Row, Stenhousemuir, Kilsyth Athletic, Bonnyton, Broom hill and Blantyre on the way to the final.

Despite that, it was a cruel end to their Scottish Cup run for a team who have found themselves on lady luck’s bad side more than once in the last three seasons.

In the last three seasons in the Scottish cup they have lost out in the quarter-final, semi-final and this year’s final to the eventual winners and twice on penalties.

But Glenvale 2002s have a chance to bounce straight back from their disappointment when they contest the League Cup final on Saturday.
