RENFREW footballer Andy Halliday has sealed a shock move to Azerbaijani outfit Qabala.
The former Renfrew High pupil and boyhood Gers supporter had been told he is no longer part of manager Pedro Caixinha’s plans and turned down moves to England to sign a season-long loan at Qabala.
The former Livingston and Middlesbrough player has sorted his Ibrox exit after it emerged he had been left out of the Light Blues’ Europa League squad.
The 25-year-old flew out to Salzburg, Austria to join his new teammates at a summer training camp as they prepare for the new season early last week.
Halliday made 67 appearances in his two years at Rangers, it remains to be seen if he will return to Govan next season.
Qabala finished second in the Azerbaijan Premier League and will kick-off their own Europa League campaign against the winners of the tie involving Georgians Dinamo Batumi and Jagiellonia Bialystok of Poland next month.
