Braehead Clan last week confirmed that defenceman Scott Aarssen will not be returning for the 2017/18 season.

The 29-year-old Canadian joined the Clan back in 2013 from Austrian club Dornbirner EC and went on to become the Clan’s longest serving import.

During his four season’s with the club, Aarssen went on to play over 200 games, scoring 13 goals and assisting on 126 others.

Clan hockey and operations director Gareth Chalmers said: “Thank you to Scott Aarssen for his four season’s with the Clan.

“I believe that Scott has been one of the club’s best signings, he’s a model professional and has been consistent season after season.

“The whole club would like to wish Scott, Jaime and Max all the very best in the future.”

Meanwhile Chalmers has hailed fans for backing the club in another year of record season ticket sales.

The club’s season ticket deadline passed on Friday with season ticket numbers having been surpassed on this time last year.

He said: “To have even better season ticket sales again this summer is testament to the Clan fans.

“The support we get season after season is outstanding.”
