Basketball Paisley prospect Chris Feeney starred as Great Britain’s under-16s finished fourth at the Eurobasket tournament in Bulgaria last week.

Feeney was the only representative from a Scottish club selected for the event in Sofia which ended on August 19 and was among Britain’s top performers throughout the week.

The GB side cruised through the group stages with five wins from five, defeating Luxembourg, Georgia, Portugal, Macedonia and Kosovo.

Feeney was the game’s top point scorer in the quarter-final against Hungary as he notched up 17 points in a 85-54 victory for GB as they booked a semi-final place against Greece.

But the Greeks proved too strong and sealed a 75-52 win on Friday, Feeney was Britain’s top assister with six.

Greece went on to win the tournament, beating Holland in the final.

The third-placed play-off ended in an agonising single point defeat for Great Britain to Georgia, a team they defeated by some 27 points in the group stages.
