St Mirren have announced three new signings ahead of their return to the Scottish Premiership.

Winger Jeff King has joined the club on a two-year deal after leaving Bolton Wanderers in the summer.

Striker Cody Cooke has also joined the Buddies from Truro City along with defender Josh Heaton, who will arrive in Paisley from Darlington FC, who play in the National League North.

Both Cooke and Heaton were part of striker Jamie Vardy's V9 Academy, which aims to launch non-league talent into professional football.

Speaking to St Mirrren's website, 22-year-old King said can't wait to join new manager Alan Stubbs in Paisley.

He said: "I'd heard about signing for the club a couple of weeks ago but I was on holiday so it's been frustrating.

"But I'm buzzing to get it over the line. I'm definitely looking forward to it.

"I had other options on the table, but St Mirren being a big club enticed me and Alan Stubbs being in charge."

Cooke, 25, said: "I'm over the moon. It's a huge opportunity and football is all about opportunities - I want to grab this one with both hands.

"I'm delighted to be here. To get a call from Alan was something that I was just delighted about."

Saints paid a reported £75,000 for Heaton, the most they have paid for a player for 25 years.

Heaton said: "The thought of playing against the big teams and striving to be the best and play first team football was something that brought me here.

"Every time I step on that park I want to win. I want to keep a clean sheet and I want our strikers to score as many goals as possible."
