Ex-Pollok ace Stewart wrapped up by Frew

RENFREW have wrapped up the signing of former Forfar and Pollok striker Willie Stewart.

Stewart had starred for Renfrew as a trialist against East Kilbride and Largs and his direct attacking style has already excited some of the Frew faithful, who had been crying out for more strength in depth up front.

The 31-year-old finally put pen to paper for the Western Park side on Saturday after some impressive displays notching up two assists and getting on the score sheet in the process.

Stewart also trained with the rest of his team-mates in the snow on Monday with gaffer Dougie Mitchell looking to keep his men sharp ahead of next weeks clash with Shotts Bon Accord.

He said: 'It"s a shame the Annbank game was postponed – we were hoping to get them here and get torn in but there was no way we could have played on that.

'Obviously the two wins in a row puts us on a wee bit of a run and hopefully we can get another three points against Shotts on Saturday.'

Renfrew go into the game against Shotts on the back of two successive victories and knowing a third win can catapult them as high as sixth place.

However, Bon Accord suffered a 3-1 reverse when they travelled to Western Park in December and will be hungry to record a win to keep pressure on Lanark and Largs in the hunt for the title.

The game at Hannah Park kicks off at 2pm.
