EX-BURGH boy Billy Peacock is keen to get back on board permanently to help the club"s quest for promotion.

Peacock, who was second to gaffer George Walker almost nine years ago before moving to Renfrew FC, believes it is an ideal time to team up with the rest of the managerial squad at Keanie Park.

The former Frew boss has been back at the club helping out as a coach.

But he feels the moment has come to join up with Walker and the rest of the experienced backroom boys, which include co-manager Raymond Fallon, assistant manager Eddie McKim, and coaches John Cuddihy Senior and Billy Walker.

Peacock and McKim took several intense pre-season training sessions last year and he feels a similar set-up this term would be perfect to propel the struggling side back to the big time of the Premier League. He said: 'In any team you need experience on the pitch and also on the sidelines.

'At this moment in time, we are lacking boys who have been around the block a few times, but with such a vast knowledge in the dugout hopefully we can make up for that.

'We worked well with the boys as there was a mutual respect between us all and when the training got tough they responded well.

'There was no doubt that the lads were one hundred per cent committed to the team.

'With the club"s current financial problems, more than ever we need boys with big hearts and the right metal.

'People seem to forget that money does not buy you trophies - you need the boys that can really dig deep when the going get tough.'

The managerial team have already negotiated new deals for 15 of the current squad, but experienced stars like target man David Brolly are considering moving elsewhere.

However, Peacock"s knowledge of the local scene could prove vital in ensuring the vital blend to muster a promotion push. He added: 'I"m aware the club is still looking to sign four or five players and I would expect a few new faces again through the door.

'These players will be vital in the teams turnaround as the gaffer is looking for a few mature players that can guide the young boys through this tough period.

'We"ve gone down a league, but I believe it has only got harder. The standard of football has dropped and it will be far more frantic rather than the skill aspect of the game.

'I believe Burgh have a good chance of going back up, but only if they have the heart and the right metal within the playing squad.'
